Frequently asked questions
How do I collect my iollo blood sample?

You receive a sample collection device which seamlessly attaches to your arm. You then click the button on the device, and your sample will be painlessly collected into it. The entire process takes less than 5 minutes.

You then mail back the tube to iollo’s laboratory using the prepaid envelope provided and results are returned online. Detailed step-by-step instructions of the sample collection process are included in each test kit.

How is iollo different from routine blood work?

Routine blood work generally measures a relatively limited selection of individual markers. iollo measures 600+ biomarkers and evaluates patterns across 19 health areas to provide a broader view of your current biochemistry.

What is metabolomics and my blood metabolome?

Sugars like glucose, lipids like cholesterol, vitamins like vitamin B12, hormones like T3 and T4, are all metabolite biomarkers and science has so far identified 40,000+ of them in blood. The collection of all of these metabolite biomarkers are what is known as the blood metabolome.1

While your genetic makeup gives you risk scores that can be used to indicate what might happen, your metabolome indicates what is happening in your body right now. Leading metabolomics researchers estimate genetics account for a relatively small share of most disease risk, with the majority tied to metabolic, lifestyle, and environmental factors your blood metabolome directly reflects.2

What is iollo?

(i-OH-lo)

Only 18.5% of the risk of developing chronic conditions is due to to genetics.4 The rest is environment, lifestyle, and interventions.

iollo measures 600+ signals influenced by your lifestyle, nutrition, environment, and health—organized not as one score, but as a map of how different systems in your body are aging, so you can see where to focus and why.

The science of metabolomics

Your metabolome includes the small molecules created as your body processes food, produces energy, responds to stress, regulates hormones, and interacts with the gut microbiome.1

Different organ systems leave different metabolic fingerprints as they age.3 Reading these signatures is what allows a report to say not just that you’re aging faster, but here’s the system driving it—which is the actual mechanistic insight a single biological age score cannot provide.

Frequently asked questions

01 How do I know which organ or system is aging fastest for me?

Your report groups your 600+ biomarkers into patterns tied to specific systems—metabolic, immune, liver, kidney, and more—so rather than a single score, you see where your biggest deviations actually cluster. Your AgelessRx clinician can review this with you to identify your dominant pattern, also known as your ageotype in research terminology, and explain what it means for your specific biology.

02 What does my metabolomic profile from iollo actually mean?

On its own, a list of 600 biomarker values means very little to most people. What it means depends on which markers deviate together, which points to a specific underlying system under strain, and what that implies about realistic next steps. That interpretation is what a clinician-guided review adds on top of the test itself.

03 What recommendations will I receive?

Recommendations may address nutrition, physical activity, sleep, supplements, and other lifestyle habits. They are personalized using your results and are intended to help you identify practical areas of focus.

04 Can iollo diagnose a medical condition?

No. iollo is intended for wellness and informational purposes and does not diagnose medical conditions. Discuss abnormal results, symptoms, or healthcare decisions with a qualified healthcare professional.
